THE HAND-Y TRANSLATOR

This project is for SD Hacks 2021. I worked as lead developer in a team of four to create an American Sign Language translator to improve the quality of communication for remote education. This project is the winner of the Google Cloud Challenge at SD Hacks with the best use of Google Cloud. I used Python and the Mediapipe API to create a linear regression machine learning algorithm to identify hand gestures and signals to translate to text within 22 ms and 79% accuracy. I also used HTML, CSS, and Flask to create frontend-backend web application.
